"Bristol City Council has calculated that it will save 60
percent, or more than £1m, [US$1.8m/€1.4m] over the next
five years by switching to Sun's StarOffice, rather than Microsoft
Office.
"The Council estimates that the total cost of StarOffice--Sun's
commercial version of the open source OpenOffice.org suite--over a
five year period will be £670,000 [US$1.2m/€963,000],
while Microsoft Office would cost £1.7m [US$3m/€2.4m],
according to the the government-funded Open Source Academy..."
