Munich mayor says switch to Linux is much cheaper and has reduced complaints

"By migrating to its own Linux distribution, LiMux, the German
city of Munich reduced both IT costs and user complaints, according
to figures provided by Mayor Christian Ude.
The city of Munich started the LiMux project in 2004 and began
migrating from Windows NT to a fully open source desktop
infrastructure in 2006.
