Is OpenStack the next Linux?Jun 11, 2013, 14:00 (0 Talkback[s])
"Making this library freely available for the broader OpenStack community underscores our pledge to preserve our vendor-neutral and services-forward approach in helping customers adopt OpenStack," explained Adrian Ionel, Mirantis CEO in a statement at the end of March.
So it was somewhat surprising to hear that Mirantis will also be launching a bespoke version of Fuel. And that release will only be available to Mirantis subscribers.
Hold on a second. Doesn’t this defeat the entire ethos of the OpenStack project?
I was under the impression that the goal of the OpenStack project was to move the entire framework forward, with contributors like Mirantis building their evolutions of the software back into the core programme for the benefit of all OpenStack members and cloud service providers using the OS.
There’s something eerily familiar about all of this.
