"As part of settlement talks with the government set for today, Microsoft has offered to discuss the way it handles advance blueprints for upcoming versions of Windows operating systems, according to a person close to the case."

"In the brief document listing the issues it was willing to discuss during the talks, Microsoft last week told the U.S. Department of Justice and 19 states that one was the application programming interfaces, known as APIs, the source said."
