"A Seoul court yesterday dropped an injunction that a local trademark holder of``Linux'' had lodged to bar publishing companies and bookstores from publishing and selling books related to the open-source code computer operating system which has become a rival to Microsoft's Windows."
"The Seoul District Court said the plaintiff's argument of exclusive rights with respect to Linux can't be accepted because local Linux supporters formed a group in 1994 and more than 20 publishers issued books on Linux in 1995...."
"The plaintiff, identified only as Kwon, registered Linux as its trademark with the Korea Industrial Property Office in May 1997 to have exclusive use of the trademark to release books and compact discs."
