Wired: MS Judge Moves in for the Kill

"Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson doesn't just want to break up Microsoft. He wants to make it hurt."

"And it might happen sooner rather than later. Jackson said he foresees "no further process" in the trial after Wednesday's hearing on possible remedies, setting the stage for an early decision."

"Jackson, the federal judge overseeing the antitrust trial, also signaled Wednesday that he was dissatisfied with a government plan to carve Microsoft into two halves -- and suggested three pieces might be better."

"At the end of the hearing, Jackson said he was just about ready to make a ruling."
