"Chuck Talk: Dan, I am pleased to be able to interview you. Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you came to be the Executive Director of the Public Patent Foundation?

"Dan Ravicher: I am a registered patent attorney with a engineering background who, before founding PUBPAT, practiced patent law with several firms in Manhattan and served Circuit Judge Randall R. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (the highest patent court other than the Supreme Court). While in private practice I increasingly confronted evidence of the patent system harming the public's interests, which are not being adequately represented. As such, once I secured sufficient financing to do so, I left private practice and founded PUBPAT to represent those interests. As for why one would give up a lucrative private practice to do public service work, I'd say that such drive is in my BIOS..."
