Jerry Fass writes: With his release of Pliant version 11, Pliant's author, Hubert Tonneau, abandons his own, more restrictive version of an open source license ("Pliant copyright and license") and now adopts the more liberal GPL version 2. Pliant thus joins the growing ranks of fully GPL'ed software. Pliant is described as more of a new generation of programming language than an improvement in a given language family. Main idea: instead of making a new language with a few new interesting features, make a very tiny, highly modular language with a trivial syntax, where most advanced features can be written in the language itself, as modules.
