LinuxProgramming: Perl and Python for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Now Shipping
Oct 27, 2001, 05 :02 UTC (16 Talkback[s]) (8606 reads)

"ActiveState, the leader in scripting languages, today announced the release of Visual Perl and Visual Python for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET at the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference. Perl and Python programmers can now leverage the power of the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and rapidly create, edit, debug and run programs with Visual Perl and Visual Python. Both these tools also have features that let programmers quickly build and consume XML Web services.

"Visual Perl and Visual Python are ideal tools for programmers who like the power and agility of Perl and Python and are familiar with Microsoft Visual Studio," said Dick Hardt , Founder & CEO, ActiveState. "Programmers can take advantage of the advanced features in the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET IDE and develop Perl and Python for any platform."

"We're delighted with ActiveState's release of Visual Perl and Visual Python, the first of the third party languages released for Visual Studio .NET . This demonstrates a great benefit for programmers -- the ability to easily use any language in Visual Studio .NET," said Marie Huwe, general manager of developer tools at Microsoft Corp."
