Security Portal: Weekly Linux Security Digest - 2000/06/05 to 2000/06/11

(Other stories by Kurt Seifried)

"This was a really bad week for Linux. A serious bug was found in the kernel that allows attackers to gain root through a variety of programs (such as Sendmail). Several application holes were found and, as always, we have a lot of exploit code. Since 40K+ Linux Digests are rather cumbersome, exploit code is now housed in Security Portal's Research Center."

"We lead off with general advisories and exploit code, then vendor advisories. Most things are in alphabetical order. If we're missing a Linux vendor's advisory please tell us, ditto for any Linux related security alerts. The long strings of hex in front of package names are MD5 signatures."
