LinuxLaboratory: The Elusive 'PHP --with-snmp' --Successfully

May 30, 2002, 11:00 (2 Talkback[s])

Some months ago I got really into SNMP, because I finally was in an environment that inspired me to go nuts with it. Unfortunately, getting SNMP support in PHP wasn't as easy as everything else is in PHP, so I started scouring the web for answers. Finally I found one, and got it to work, but I didn't document it myself for some reason. When I had to do the whole process over again on a new install of Redhat, not only was it very hard to get working, but I also couldn't track down the post where I had gotten my solution before! UGH! So I created this document as a short, simple reference for me and anyone else who finds it useful. Read more for the 'magic hack' involved in getting this to work.
