"Linux, the operating system that has become the darling of its
security-conscious promoters, came out second-best to Microsoft's
Windows Server in a new survey released Wednesday.
"Security experts at London-based mi2g who have been tracking
digital attacks closely for the past three months, specifically
because of increased tensions over the war in Iraq, say that
Linux-based servers recorded most of the successful breaches.
"The company said that in May, 19,208 successful breaches
worldwide were recorded against Linux-based systems (76 per cent)
and 3,801 breaches were recorded against Microsoft Windows systems
(15 per cent). Both corporate and government servers were
counted..."
