Linux.com: An Interview With Donnie BarnesSep 11, 1999, 01:47 (0 Talkback[s])
[ Thanks to Jeff Alami for this link. ]
"Donnie Barnes...is the Director of Technical Projects at Red Hat Software, coordinating the company's technical and community projects..."
"Linux.com: Are any of the big hardware vendors getting into selling Linux desktops as opposed to servers?"
"Donnie Barnes: Not that I know of. Applications sell desktop systems, not operating systems. Linux certainly isn't doing bad on the application side, but your mother probably can't easily find a solution for recipe storage and retrieval, either. Once we start to reach that point I think you'll see Linux desktops being sold. We may see that before, but in the `technical workstation' side of things."
