EETimes: Smart 64-bit CPCI board manages RAID systems

Feb 15, 2000, 17:43 (0 Talkback[s])

"The Model CPCI-945 Ultra2 SCSI RAID controller board for the CompactPCI bus from Cyclone Microsystems Inc. provides 'fault-tolerant storage and maximum data availability for high-performance embedded systems,' said vice president of sales Peter Zackin."

"A 64-bit, 6U-size board, the CPCI-945 is an intelligent controller based on an Intel i960RN processor. ...offloads all RAID functions from a host processor... supports RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, 30 and 50."

"A broad array of support software is available for the board, including a RAID management package and drivers for 'all major PC server operating systems,' Zackin said, including Windows NT, Novell NetWare, IBM OS/2, Sun Solaris, Linux Red Hat, SCO Unix and UnixWare. The board also supports 'industry standards for predicting drive failure and for management of non-SCSI devices in the server cabinet,' he said, as well as Microsoft Cluster Server for Windows NT environments."
