decision to give away the software coding for its new Macintosh
server operating system.”

“By giving away the code for its new Mac OS X Server, Apple has
endorsed and entered a new era of software development, allowing
any programmer to improve upon and make new applications based on
the software.”

“In the meantime, Mazzucchelli said Apple needs to be very
careful in how it advertises and markets Mac OS X. Because the
product is targeted toward business customers, Apple shouldn’t
advertise in general interest newspapers or magazines, he
said.”
