The German newswire service heise.de reported this rumor on October 26.

John Jesmer has kindly rendered this tranlation for Linux Today:
"According to recent rumors on the Internet, SAP has developed its Standard Software R/3 for internal use. However, it is not planning a public release at this time. SAP is, next to Baan and PeopleSoft, the leading vendor of Standard Software applied to inventory and accounting systems."
"Similar rumors about Informix databases last Fall led to a flood of questions and responses by Informix customers finally prompting Informix (and ultimately, Oracle and IBM) to stop wavering and offer Linux versions of its database products. The next thing we may see might be SAP, Baan and PeopleSoft paying tribute to the current Linux boom."
