"Linux software development tool kits that rival the programming aids designed for Windows and Unix are starting to appear. Analysts said the new integrated development environments will help put Linux on a par with the more mature operating systems.

"Cygnus Solutions today is unveiling its Linux integrated development environment, which is the first complete open source tool kit for the upstart operating system. The IDE, called Code Fusion, includes source code editors, compilers, management aids and code debuggers. Tools integrated into a shared graphical environment save developers time and make it easier to resolve trouble spots in code."
