VNU Net: Compaq's NDS support strikes blow to Microsoft's Active Directory

"Novell plans to port its flagship Novell Directory Services (NDS) to Compaq's Tru64 Unix variant, striking a blow to Microsoft's proposed NDS killer, Active Directory.

To make matters worse for the software giant, Enrico Pesatori, senior vice president and group general manager of Compaq's enterprise solutions and services group, said NDS would become the 'strategic' directory for the former Digital Equipment operating system (OS). It is due to ship in the first half of next year."

"NDS for Tru64 Unix will manage services running across a range of other OSs, including Microsoft's Windows NT, Linux and Novell's Netware network OS."
