BW: HP to Release E-speak Source Code to Fuel the Creation of a New Generation of Internet Services

"Hewlett-Packard Company today announced it will make the source code for its e-speak technology freely available to developers. HP also announced the formation of its E-speak Developer's Program and plans for a Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) service development kit."

"HP is providing the technology for creating a new breed of intelligent services and appliances," said Rajiv Gupta, general manager of HP's Open Services Operations and lead architect of the e-speak technology. "We aim to make it possible for requests for services to be automatically brokered, bid and transacted on the Net."

"HP will make the e-speak open source code available at www.e-speak.net on Dec. 8. HP is recruiting other companies and open source community members dedicated to the open source movement to participate in the development of the site and management of the open source code."
