Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers
"Oracle Corp. announced Friday it will join the Project Monterey
effort spearheaded by IBM."
"Monterey is a 64-bit Unix designed to run on Intel Corp.'s
upcoming 64-bit Itanium processor platform. Intel and the Santa
Cruz Operation are also spearheading the Monterey effort, which
many observers believe will in some part "reunify" Unix on 64-bit
"Oracle announced it will treat Monterey as a "tier one"
platform, meaning it will port all of its software to Monterey,
leading off with the Oracle Internet Directory."
