"Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, asked in a television
interview if he would fight against resolving a landmark antitrust
case by breaking up his firm, said he would be willing to discuss
'any sort of resolution.'
'We are very curious about any sort of resolution that could
come along, we'll sit and be willing to discuss that,' he said when
asked on ABC's Good Morning America if he would fight
tooth and nail any attempt to break up the Redmond, Wash.-based
software giant that made Gates the world's wealthiest man.
The interview question, posed via remote hook-up from the Comdex
trade show in Las Vegas, followed a Time Magazine
interview published earlier this week in which Gates
twice refused to rule out breaking up the company to settle
government antitrust charges."
