"Reactions to Transmeta's Crusoe chips were mixed last week, some dismissing it as another Pentium clone, others seeing it as a major advance in microprocessor technology...."

"They have advanced the art of emulation technology," said ARM's John Cornish, "but they didn't show a Winstone benchmark. I wonder if the performance is uneven."

"It shows that processors have to deal with applications problems rather than hardware and software problems," said Bob Terwilliger, president and CEO of ARC Cores."
