"Intranets and extranets are outdated because they sometimes shut out prospective customers and suppliers, said [Novell senior VP of product marketing Dave] Shirk. As a result, the first of Novell's products, iChain, aims to integrate the two sets of services and enable them to hook up to companies' financial systems such as billing and reporting.

iChain will ship under controlled release within the next 60 days and Novell plans to host iChain services for selected customers.

The second offering, eGuide, is scheduled to ship next week on Netware, Windows NT, Unix and Linux. ...allows users to locate people, places and other resources from directories that support the lightweight directory access protocol (Ldap)."
