"As a Linux enthusiast, I was impressed by the sheer number of
Linux options (software, hardware, and even games from Loki) there
are out there. As for the giveaways, there was everything from LED
super balls to beach towels and, of course, the de rigeour
t-shirts. LinuxWorld was too large in its scope to give an
overview, but here are a few highlights...."
"The general air was that Microsoft is simply not an issue
any more. Linux is an entirely different beast set within paradigms
that defy conventional business models. One had the feeling
that big businesses like IBM and Compaq had shown up to satisfy
their curiosity, learn, and, ultimately, support Linux, as they
recognized the evolution of the business world in front of their
eyes. Instead of taking years, however, this evolution takes
months, weeks, even days to occur. As a side bar, it was amusing to
note that there were many suited executives holding meetings on
inflatable penguin chairs - a playful reminder of the way Linux is
changing business today."
