"In PC Week Labs' tests, we found little performance difference between Solaris 7 and Solaris 8. Nevertheless, Solaris 8's reliability features make it a worthwhile upgrade. Solaris' proven reliability-an absolutely necessity in today's Internet economy-is enhanced significantly in this release."

"Solaris binaries, which became available last week, cost $75. Source code costs $75 more and is expected to be distributed in May. Sites can install Solaris 8 on an unlimited number of one- to eight-processor servers. Those sites with larger machines must purchase a license."
