"While in San Diego last week, I went by mp3.com to visit. (I had met Brian Dear, their head of web development, at PC Forum, and he'd asked me to come by if I was ever in town.) I was very impressed with the company on a number of fronts."
"First off, the building... Second, they are a great perl and O'Reilly success story. They said that their "test" for would-be new employees (at least in engineering) uses some "culture" questions. They look for people who know Perl, who read slashdot, and have one or more O'Reilly books."
"They are a *serious* perl/apache/mysql shop (a great subject for a perl/open source success story for our web site--they had great stories about the analysts questioning them on their IPO road show about the database they used, and how they were thinking of renaming one of their machines oracle, so they could say with a straight face that they ran their databases on oracle :-)"
"These guys struck me as an incredible combination of tech savvy and human values -- the best I've seen in a long time."
