"Synopsys Inc. plans to adapt a free open-source licensing structure for standards it holds in its Technology Access Program (TAP-in). The announcement is scheduled for Tuesday (April 18) at the fifth biannual Interoperability Developers Forum in Los Gatos, Calif."

"In the coming months, Synopsys will first release its Liberty package - STAMP and .lib - as well as the Synopsys Design Constraints (SDC) format along with parsers and syntax checkers for both formats through open-source licensing and will follow with other standards later in the year."

"This release, however, is not the first time that Synopsys has announced a standard through an open-source license model."
