"Rackspace.com, a leading provider of Linux-based Advanced Internet Hosting services, today announced that it has partnered with two Internet e-commerce companies to give Rackspace.com customers a broad variety of turnkey solutions to fit their e-commerce needs."

"Rackspace.com chose to partner with Akopia, because its Tallyman solution is one of the most popular, open-source, electronic commerce applications for the Linux operating system. Over 80 percent of Rackspace.com's customer base uses Linux systems. Mercantec SoftCart, the winner of NewMedia Magazine's 1999 Hyper Award for best Out-Of-The-Box Store was selected to provide solutions that encompass the shopping cart front-end, transaction processing mid-layer, merchant accounts and a storefront management system. Rackspace also offers the assurance of quick 48-hour turnaround to set up new merchant accounts with this e-commerce software, regardless of the size of the business."

"Our customers are increasingly demanding a higher level of services as their Web sites and e-businesses grow and become more complex," said Graham Weston, chief executive officer of Rackspace.com. "By partnering with companies like Akopia and Mercantec, we will be able to continue offering solutions that meet different customers' needs."
