"Microsoft is waving large wads of cash under the noses of Web integrators, a group of potential partners with which the software behemoth has had relatively little contact to date. Some of the pending deals are reported to be worth millions of dollars--as much as $67 million in one case. The deals are not equity investments, but they do appear to go beyond anything Microsoft has tried previously to woo partners into its camp."
"Microsoft repeatedly declined to comment on this story. But one Web integrator, who asked not to be named, says the effort is largely driven from Microsoft CFO John Connors' office and is very targeted. Connors was briefly in charge of Microsoft's channel before being elevated to CFO, following former CFO Greg Maffei's departure late last year for a communications company in Vancouver, B.C."
"Just how much is Microsoft offering integrators? "Whatever it takes," says one. "It's based on our business objective, our business plan and the amount of working capital we have."
