"Metro Link has released an enhanced version of its Open Motif--complete with bug fixes--for free FTP download. According to Metro Link, the move brings the company that much closer to establishing universal standards for selected software."

"In May, Motif's guardians, the Open Group, released the user interface toolkit technology source code for royalty-free use, reproduction, and distribution on Open Source operating systems (OSs) such as Linux and FreeBSD."

"Metro Link said that by publicly offering the downloadable Motif binary packages, it is reinforcing its community presence and support for the Open Motif initiative. The company also believes that the release brings it that much closer to establishing some global standards."
