"VA Linux Systems, Inc. today announced its successful collaboration with HP in launching the first Open Source Printing Summit. The Open Source Printing Summit was held recently in Sunnyvale, California, bringing together more than ten vendors and over fifteen major Open Source projects for an historic two-day industry conference."
"Participants included developers and representatives of companies such as HP, VA Linux, IBM, Sun, Canon, Epson, Lexmark, Okidata, Xerox and Microsoft, as well as developers from Samba, Ghostscript, LPRng, CUPS, PDQ, GPR, SysAPS, Linux Internationalization Initiative (Li18nux), XFree86, GIMP, GNOME, KDE, SourceForge, Red Hat, SuSE, the Linux Documentation Project and the IETF-Printing Working Group."
"The Open Source Printing Summit was sponsored by HP and VA as part of the Open Source Printing Project (printing.sourceforge.net), which has been gaining momentum since its launch on VA Linux Systems' SourceForge earlier this year. Since January, VA Linux Professional Services has been working with HP to improve HP LaserJet printer support under Linux and Samba, and to advance the quality and functionality of Open Source printing overall."
