"You may have thought that software developer Corel Corp. (Nasdaq:CORL) was down and out. But Corel is actually in the process of porting its 2000 line of Windows graphics and business software applications including WordPerfect to the MacIntosh computer platform, Penguinista! has discovered. Will Corel once again surprise its detractors in the financial analyst world?"

"There have been sporadic rumors, but it now appears certain that Corel is porting its Windows applications including WordPerfect Suite to the MacIntosh and that Corel plans to release those products before its next Windows versions are released, presently scheduled for 2001."

"The clincher came in the form of a detailed marketing survey on Corel's web site to be filled out by people downloading free copies of Corel's older WordPerfect for the MacIntosh word processing package. ... The survey form avoids stating that Corel will issue a Mac port of WordPerfect Office, but it also asks Mac users to identify feature preferences for 9.0 versions of of Corel's WordPerfect Office suite, the current version released on the Windows and Linux operating systems, implying that the Mac WordPerfect release will likely occur before version 10.0 is released."
