"VistaSource, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Applix, Inc.
(NASDAQ: APLX) announced today at Linux World a new service
agreement with Zoned In, a full-service Internet provider aiming to
bring a simplified, faster and more secure Internet into every
household and business. Under the terms of the new agreement, every
customer who subscribes to Zoned In's services will have full
access to AnywareOffice, the full-featured productivity suite from
VistaSource. AnywareOffice will help to fulfill the portion of
Zoned In's mission that aims to provide a comprehensive Internet
Operating System (IOS) complete with a virtual desktop for personal
productivity and administrative tasks."
"Zoned In, which will roll out its services in late
September of this year, projects subscriptions of 1.6 million by
mid-year 2001. This equates to the same number of households, and
an even greater number of potential users, accessing AnywareOffice
applications."
"AnywareOffice will be hosted on Zoned In's cluster of
Linux-based servers and is accessible through any Java-enabled
browser. Because AnywareOffice was created for server-centric
computing, it is extremely scalable and as such became Zoned In's
top choice."
