"Xrefer.com, the Web reference engine, has released an applet download called "xrefer it." The applet, when downloaded, allows Web users to add the xrefer.com reference engine to the toolbar of their browsers."

"The firm says the free to download "button" can be installed on a user's PC within a matter of seconds and will work on Internet Explorer 4.0+ and Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.0+ running under Windows 95/98/NT, plus Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.0+ running under Linux."

"Simon Prodger, a spokesperson for xrefer.com, said that the applet button is similar to that seen on the Google Web search portal, but with the advantage that it works on Web frames and nested frames."
