Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers

"Trolltech announced today the release of Qt version 2.2. Qt is a cross-platform C++ graphical user interface application framework that provides users a software development environment to produce commercial-grade, multi-platform software. Qt currently supports Windows, Linux, Unix and Embedded Linux. Also released today was Qt Designer, a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool that provides a graphical interface to the Qt Application Programming Interface (API)."

"Version 2.2 adds several great new features to Qt version 2.1.1, including Internet programming, Microsoft Windows 2000 compliant look and feel, highly optimized 2D graphics visualization, XML parser with SAX interface, advanced support for multithreaded applications, Table/Spreadsheet programming and the new class QAction (a user interface action that can appear both in menus and tool bars). Despite the new features, Qt 2.2 will maintain both source and binary compatibility with Qt 2.0 and Qt 2.1."

"We are very proud of this new release. It contains many new features that our customers have requested," said Eirik Aavitsland, Qt product manager. "With the introduction of our visual GUI builder (Qt Designer), Qt has taken a great step forward in usability and accessibility to programmers."
