"Caldera Systems announced on 19 October the certification of Oracle8i database on Caldera OpenLinux eServer 2.3. Certification of Oracle Internet Application Server 8i (Oracle iAS) on eServer 2.3 is underway. The combination of Oracle8i and Oracle iAS for Linux emphasises Oracle's commitment to Oracle on Linux adoption. Joint marketing efforts, including a Web seminar for Oracle ISVs with Caldera, are also supporting the move."

"Caldera's certification of Oracle on Caldera OpenLinux provides a powerful, low-cost Internet application development and deployment platform by optimising compatibility and performance of Oracle platforms with and on Linux."

"We recognised early on the tremendous potential of Linux - not to mention great interest in the new technology," said Doug Kennedy, vice president, SHV Systems Division, Oracle. "By offering the stability, openness and value that rivals any other operating system, Caldera OpenLinux is a popular choice for e-business. We have, by moving quickly to be one of the first companies to offer our entire suite of enterprise products on the operating system, gained a true advantage."
