Subject: Dr. Dobb's Tcl-URL! - weekly Tcl news and links (Oct 30)

This week's big news was certainly the acquisition of Ajuba Solutions by InterWoven. Check out the *long* thread on this issue, and also the position statement of the TCT (Tcl Core Team) as well as a front-page on Linux Weekly News.

Jean-Luc Fontaine launches a discussion on i18n-issues
(internationalization) when parsing dates and times.

Some hints on how to create "shortcuts" on Windows platforms.

Mark Harrison argues why to include [incr Tcl] into the Core Tcl distribution. He has submitted a "TIP" (Tcl Improvement Process) request.

For the Newbies:
Tcl's powerful channel system allows various channel-specific options to be set or queried with the general fconfigure command. Those channel-specific options, however, are not documented in the fconfigure manual entry but rather with the command that creates that type of channels, e.g., socket.
