LinuxPR: Open CASCADE 3D Modeling Components & 3D-Master Suite Adopted by French Research Center

Nov 20, 2000, 17:43 (0 Talkback[s])

"After selecting Open CASCADE (http://www.opencascade.com/) as the development tool for its ANATOLE tolerance analysis software, the Corporate Research Center (CCR) of EADS at Suresnes (France) has once again chosen these open-source C++ 3D modeling components from Matra Datavision along with the 3D-MasterSuite Java 3D graphic library from TGS for creation of an integration platform for its simulation software ASERIS-FD. The CCR has ordered 121,000 euros worth of development services from the Open CASCADE and TGS teams for the project. These services will allow obtaining greater productivity and ease of use from the ASERIS-FD solver."

"According to Pierre Benjamin, ASERIS-FD Project Manager, "With Open CASCADE we will be able to establish a robust link between the CAD model and our pre- and postprocessing software. After considering different development environments, we decided on Open CASCADE and TGS for reasons of cost-effectiveness, performance and long-term viability, particularly through the Open Source strategy."

"Open CASCADE will allow importing CAD model data from different types of modeling software into the solver through standard formats such as IGES and STEP. Next, the model data will be meshed and displayed with the 3D-MasterSuite Java graphic components. After calculation, results will be displayed with a postprocessing visualizer, also based on 3D-MasterSuite Java. All development work is carried out in collaboration with the Consulting Division of TGS, with the goal of boosting graphical performance in order to manipulate tens of millions of finite difference calculation cells."
