"Linux has been a bit quiet of late. A couple of months ago you
couldn't go anywhere without hearing or reading something about the
rapidly proliferating operating system. But, of recent times, it
seems to have fallen out of favour with the pundits. Part of the
reason for this could be the simple fact that many of the Linux
industry pioneers are having a bit of a tough time of things right
"All of that however could be about to change. Linus Torvalds,
the guru that created the operating system, is about to release the
next version of the Linux kernel. This one will be the 2.4 kernel
and it is expected to be rolled out towards the end of this month
-- hopefully in time to give everyone a little boost to their
Christmas stockings. And, hardly surprisingly the world is waiting
with baited breath."

the kind of attention that Linux really needs right now.
Because of all of the negative press, about Linux companies rather
than the O/S itself, Linux has rather fallen out of favour. But,
with the release of a new kernel, the chances are that
