"Metrowerks is porting its CodeWarrior for PlayStation2
tools to Linux, the company revealed at the Game Developers
Conference in Santa Clara this week. The company is demonstrating
an alpha release of the software at the conference this week, and
expects to have the software ready for commercial release mid-year
"Metrowerks is a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola, which has
been making its own inroads into the embedded Linux field. The
addition of CodeWarrior for PS2 will represent Metrowerks' second
foray into Linux game development tools, the first being its
agreement with Indrema to produce a version of CodeWarrior for that
company's upcoming LS600. Metrowerks has also partnered with
embedded Linux player Lineo to develop the Embedix SDK, and made an
investment of $22.5 million in the company last year."
