GNOME 1.4 was released as source code three weeks ago. Ximian's business is centered around enhancing the GNOME desktop both by providing some additional polish to the existing environment as provided by the GNOME project and providing additional applications such as Evolution, a GUI mail/calendaring/contact management client; and Red Carpet, a software installation and package management tool. At the moment, Debian GNU/Linux (Woody) is unsupported, though the company says it plans to have support shortly. SuSE 7.1, Mandrake 8.0, Solaris 7 & 8 on UltraSparc are also forthcoming.
