ITWorld: Find out if Kylix deliversMay 03, 2001, 23:00 (4 Talkback[s])(Other stories by Joshua Drake) [ Thanks to Kathy for this link. ] Another review of Kylix, this time by ITWorld's Joshua Drake, who says the price is a little steep and there are a few features that keep it short of perfection. He predicts it will become an "extremely powerful force in Linux" over time. "...There are a couple of items that Kylix does not include that I felt would have been nice to have, like CVS integration and dbExpress components for PostgreSQL. I do not know of any plans for CVS but I do know that the PostgreSQL team is working on the dbExpress components now." "At $1,999 for the server edition, the cost of Kylix might be a shocker to some. You might really start to wonder if you are better off using KDevelop with C++ or BlackAdder with Python. Borland may want to consider a subscription-based option for Kylix like Zend offers. If you buy Zend products, you purchase them for $600 annually or $50 monthly. If I were a professional Kylix programmer, I would have no problem laying down $50 a month for a royalty-free license."
