XFree86 4.2.0 Release Available

4.2.0 is the new full release of XFree86. See our release plans for scheduled updates and future releases.

The source tarballs, patches, and binary distributions in a variety of formats are all available from our own ftp site, and also our mirror sites. We recommend using the mirror sites instead of the main site whenever possible.

Pre-compiled binary distributions are available with more being uploaded daily, Read the following four (4) files before downloading the binaries:

  • README file for a general overview
  • Release Notes for a summary of what this release contains
  • Installation Notes for information about what files to download and how to install them
  • Driver Status Document for information comparing the hardware support in 3.3.6 versus 4.2.0 and whether your hardware is supported in this release.
