"When one bus wasn't enough, another was hired to carry the 85 Linux fans.

"Their destination Saturday was the annual Linux Fest Northwest, a day-long conference devoted to the open-source operating system that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer once called a 'cancer.'

"More than 600 people showed up for the event from Washington, British Columbia, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. That compares to millions who show up at work every day and turn on a computer with Microsoft Windows.

"Still, says Tim Lee, the 24-year-old president of Pogo Linux Inc., it's a sign of Linux's growing momentum, even on the Redmond software giant's home turf..."
