Mandrakesoft acquires Edge IT
Mandrakesoft has acquired Edge IT an open source tech support
and services company. This will bring on board the expertise of
Edge IT in the support offerings from Mandrakesoft. Edge IT already
counts OECD, the world economic organization, Fondation Nationale
des Sciences Politiques, a French Political Science School, and
Prisma Presse, a publishing company, among its customers. More

Mandrakelinux in the US
O'Reilly Media is now a U.S. and Canadian reseller for
Mandrakesoft.O'Reilly is reselling two English-language versions of
Mandrakelinux 10.0 (the newest release)--Mandrakelinux Discovery
10.0 and Mandrakelinux PowerPack 10.0. Both versions are available
at bookstores nationwide, and can also be ordered directly from
KBC securities rates Mandrakesoft stock

Open Source focus in the French Government
France's cash-strapped government is giving alternative software
firms the chance to win state business from Microsoft in a
pioneering drive to challenge the U.S. software giant in the public
sector. Civil service minister Renaud Dutreil told Reuters that
France wanted to use "open-source" software providers to upgrade
part of the almost one million state computers under a government
cost-cutting drive designed to trim a bulging public deficit.
Open-source software -- open software which has no license cost --
like Linux , OpenOffice, Mozilla, Apache, MySQL and Evolution --
was "very credible," Dutreil said. Read
It would be interesting to note that Mandrakesoft has signed a
contract with the Ministry of Equipment in the French Government
for a large deployment of servers to replace Windows NT. France's
Culture, Agriculture and Finance ministries have already signed
deals with Mandrakesoft.

OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 and Mozilla 1.7 packages are now available
for download on Mandrakeclub. Also unveiled is Mandrakecampus, a
