NetworkManager 0.3.1

NetworkManager 0.3.1 has been released.

This is the first public release of NetworkManager. It is still early in the development stage but is usable. There are versions for Debian, Fedora, Gentoo and Slackware. It should be easy to port it to any desktop that runs HAL.

NetworkManager makes your Linux desktop's network go VROOM!!!

It serves as a network policy manager for the HAL-ized freedesktop.org stack. It will automatically establish wired and wireless connections, manage wireless keys, and provides developers with a high-level DBus API for controlling networking.

The watchwords for NetworkManager are "Just Works(TM)":

  • Unplug from wired connections and stand in Amazement as it finds your favorite wireless network!
  • Painlessly switch between wireless networks!
  • Tremor Awestruck as you plug in a new wireless card and behold its miraculous appearance on your desktop!

More information about NetworkManager can be found at its homepage:

GNOME-Fx 0.10.0

GNOME-Fx 0.10.0

GNOME-Fx is a theme for Mozilla Firefox which tries to make Firefox look like a native GNOME application. GNOME-Fx is intented to blend in well with the default GNOME theme. GNOME-Fx (blue) is a slight variation which uses the blue instead of the green GTK theme.

This is the initial release of GNOME-Fx. If you have any improvements (better icons/ new icons etc) or comments please send them to the gnomefx mailinglist. See http://www.mozdev.org/mailman/listinfo/gnomefx

GNOME-Fx versioning follows the versioning scheme of Firefox. So the first two numbers of the GNOME-Fx version indicate for which version of Firefox the theme is.

glibmm 2.5.0

gtkmm and glibmm 2.5/2.6

glibmm 2.5 wraps new API in glib 2.5, and is API/ABI-compatibile with glibmm 2.4. The new API is unstable, until this become the API/ABI-stable glibmm 2.6 when glib 2.5 becomes the API-stable glib 2.6.

glibmm stays in-sync with GTK+ by following the official GNOME release schedule: http://www.gnome.org/start/unstable/

Bindings for the rest of the GNOME Platform are also available, and are also API-stable.

glibmm 2.5.0:

  • Added OptionContext, OptionGroup, and OptionEntry classes, for parsing of command-line options. See examples/options/ This is a first version of this API. It needs some work. (Murray Cumming)

You will need libsigc++ 2.0, available here: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1970

There is active discussion on the mailing list: http://www.gtkmm.org/mailinglist.shtml
and in the #c++ channel on irc.gnome.org/
