"A web services architect in Sri Lanka has worked with several programmers in the country's IT industry to build a collection of open source web applications for managing the fallout from the tsunami which devastated the country in December.

"Dr Sanjiva Weerawarana, a Research Staff Member in the Component Systems Group of IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center, said the components for the project, called Sahana (meaning peace or calm in Sinhalese), had been built by various Sri Lankan developers..."
