"Under Linux java runs slow and many programs which use java do
not work as they should. This is surprising as I would have
expected a company like Sun who is one of the champions of open
source, to do much better. I can only imagine Sun hanging its head
in shame at its poor efforts in cross platform programing. Adobe
flash is another which is supposed to be cross platform yet does
not deliver the goods.
"The biggest culprits are hardware drivers. If a company is
going to release a driver for different operating systems then they
should at least make them equal in features. Don't give me any
baloney about market share and junk. The company obviously feels
that it is worth developing a driver and writing code with cross
platforms in mind is not much harder than single platform
programing. It all depends on which language or framework you
use."
