"Intel plans to introduce a series of new Atom processors at the
opening of the giant Computex show in Taipei this week, as well as
offer a preview a number of other offerings.
"But Atom will be the star of the show.
"The company is broadening the line, expanding to everything
from entry-level desktops to super-thin netbooks, thanks to a slew
of new products.
""The theme for Computex will be Atom everywhere," said Matthew
Parker, general manager for netbooks and tablets at Intel (NASDAQ:
INTC). "It's illustrating about how we will go beyond the 50
million units of netbooks that have shipped since we announced Atom
at Computex in 2008."
"A new dual-core, entry-level desktop Atom will be introduced,
with support for DDR3 memory. That processor will be available to
OEMs by the end of June."
