About.com: Myth II: Soulblighter for Linux

“Bungie’s Myth games are among the most popular non-shooters in
the gaming industry. The Myth games bring a little bit of medevil
gore and violence to the refined modern desktop, and many users are
thankful for it. And thanks to Loki, Myth II: Soulblighter is now
available to Linux users as well. Wey-hey!”

“As is always the case with Loki software, first impressions are
good. The packaging is identical to the packaging for the Windows
version of Myth II, with the addition of a penguin at the bottom of
the box and the now obligatory “Runs on Linux!” sticker. The manual
is also identical, save for the Linux-oriented install instructions
which also give basic system requirements for both x86 and PowerPC
Linux systems.”

“After launching the game and tweaking the graphics settings
in the “Preferences” menu to suit your processor and system
capabilities, you’ll probably want to head straight for the
excellent tutorial, which is also fairly entertaining in its own
right.
Myth II is a battlefield simulation, which means that
you are the virtual commander of a small army of knights, archers,
and other interesting characters who spend their time questing, or
in this case, fighting, in the fields of medevil Europe. The
tutorial does a good job of teaching formation and battle
techniques (including the blowing up of scarecrows, my personal
favorite), and camera manipulation, important for observing the men
during battle.”
